How do I set sequins or glitter pieces into gel?+

Apply a thin layer of clear gel or colour gel, place the pieces with a dotting tool or tweezers while the gel is still uncured, and cure. Then seal the design with a top coat, covering every edge, and cure again. A second layer of top coat over larger pieces helps smooth the surface so the edges do not catch.

Can sparkle be used under a top coat only?+

Small, flat pieces can sit under a single layer of top coat, but they hold better when they are first set into a thin layer of gel and cured, then sealed. Larger or raised pieces need more product around them, either extra top coat or a thicker clear gel, so the surface stays smooth and the pieces do not lift.

What else works for sparkly nail art?+

Chrome and aurora powders are rubbed onto a cured, non-sticky top layer for a mirror or colour-shift finish. Sequin grids and flakes add pattern and shine. Rhinestones and charms add height and are best set with a gel made for holding stones. Glitter gel polishes put the sparkle in the colour coat itself, which is quicker for full nails. Cure every layer fully before adding the next one.

How do I remove nails with glitter or sequins?+

File the top layer to break the seal, especially over the decorated areas, then soak or wrap the nails in acetone according to the gel system you used. Lift the softened product gently with an orangewood stick rather than scraping. Raised pieces may need a little more filing first so the acetone can reach the gel underneath.
