Is OPI Intelli-Gel HEMA-free?

Yes. OPI lists Intelli-Gel as HEMA-free, TPO-free and vegan. That claim belongs to the Intelli-Gel system, not to every OPI gel, so read the label when you buy original GelColor bottles. HEMA-free also does not rule out a reaction to other acrylates, so a patch test is still the sensible step for a client with a known sensitivity.

How is Intelli-Gel different from original OPI GelColor?

Original GelColor launched in 2011 and pairs with the Stay Classic or Stay Strong base and the Stay Shiny top. Intelli-Gel launched in August 2024 with a self-correcting gel formula and the Intelli-Brush, which has a rounded edge for cleaner cuticle lines. Most Intelli-Gel shades reach full colour in two thin coats.

How do I apply OPI Intelli-Gel?

Shake the colour bottle for about five seconds. Apply one coat of Bond-Aid, then an ultra thin layer of Super Base and cure it. Add two thin colour coats, curing each one, then seal with the top coat. Each layer cures in 30 seconds under the OPI Star Light LED lamp or about 2 minutes under UV. After Super Gloss, wipe with N.A.S. 99; finish with cuticle oil.

How long does Intelli-Gel last and how is it removed?

With correct prep and thin coats, Intelli-Gel wears for up to three weeks. Ask clients to avoid heavy impact on the nails during the first day. To remove it, soak off with acetone, either in wraps or a soak bowl, and lift the softened gel gently instead of scraping it from the nail plate.

What do the Intelli-Gel combos and sets include?

Each combo puts one Intelli-Gel colour with the Super Base Coat and a Super Gloss top coat in a single listing, and the basic kits add an LED lamp. Matching duos pair the gel with the same shade in Nail Lacquer, and the 3 in 1 sets add the Powder Perfection dip jar on the same code. Seasonal sets of 6 or 12 colours follow OPI collections.
