What a Gelixir gel and lacquer duo is
Every listing on this page is a pair of bottles that share one shade number: a Gelixir gel polish and a Gelixir nail lacquer. The gel bottle is marked soak off and cures under an LED or UV lamp. The lacquer is regular nail polish that dries in the air, so the same color can go on a gel manicure and on a quick polish change or a pedicure without a lamp. Gelixir describes the gel as a high-gloss formula that lasts up to 3 weeks without chipping or peeling and soaks off completely in 10 to 15 minutes. The brand makes it in the USA and lists each duo at 0.5 oz.
Gelixir's full chart runs to 180 colors. The duos we carry run from number 019 up to 180, and each listing names its number in the title, so reordering a client's shade is a matter of typing the number into the search bar or the filter.
How the Gelixir numbers are grouped
The listings carry Part tags that split the chart into five runs of numbers. They help when you want to fill one section of a color wall at a time or match a swatch you already own.
| Part | Numbers on this page | What the run leans toward |
| Part 1 | 019 to 032 | Coral pink, orange red, crimson and lilac creams |
| Part 2 | 038 to 072 | Rose gold glitter, reds, plum and raspberry, jungle and jade greens |
| Part 3 | 074 to 108 | Purples, deep blues and a long run of glitters |
| Part 4 | 112 to 141 | Browns, a red, greens, gold glitter and a clear silver glitter |
| Part 5 | 149 to 180 | Pink, gold, silver and multi glitters, bronze shimmer, greens |
Shades from Part 4 onward are listed by number only, without a name. The color family on each listing is the quickest way to tell them apart before you order.
Colors in stock right now
Stock is limited and counted per shade, often only a few bottles each, so the grid shows sold-out numbers next to available ones. These are the color families with bottles on hand at the time of writing:
- Browns and bronze: 113, 114, 115, 126, 129 and 132, plus 153, a bronze shimmer. This is the deepest group on the page, and several of these numbers carry fall and holiday tags.
- Purples and mauves: 044 Plum Cocktail, 046 Dark Raspberry, 075 Deep Sea, 076 Old Mauve, 077 Charming Purple and 131.
- Reds, corals and oranges: 019 Carmine Pink, 021 Firebrick, 039 Cardinal, 060 Lust and 112.
- Greens: 070 Jungle Green, 072 Jade and 123.
- Blues: 084 Pacific Blue, with 081 Sea Of Night and 085 Cerulean as blue glitters.
- Glitters: 038 Noble Queen in rose gold, 091 The Ballet Girl, 102 Bright Rose Red, 107 Romantic Gold Red, 108 Purple Sand, 138, 141, 149, 164, 167, 168 and 171.
Use the availability filter beside the grid to hide sold-out numbers before you build an order.
Choosing Gelixir shades for a service menu
- Fall and winter sets: start with the browns and the purples. Pair a deep brown such as 132 with a gold glitter such as 167 for an accent nail.
- Holiday nails: the red and gold glitters in Part 3 (107 Romantic Gold Red, 102 Bright Rose Red) and the silver glitters 141 and 164 suit party and holiday sets.
- Clients who want a brighter color: 019 Carmine Pink, 060 Lust and the greens 070 Jungle Green and 072 Jade.
- Glitter toppers: 141 is a clear base with silver glitter, so it can go over any cream color instead of being worn alone.
Gel or lacquer: when to use each bottle
| Gelixir gel polish | Gelixir nail lacquer |
| Drying | Cured under an LED or UV lamp | Air-dries, no lamp |
| Wear | Up to 3 weeks with a base and top | Like any regular nail polish |
| Removal | Soak-off, about 10 to 15 minutes | Regular nail polish remover |
| Best for | Long-wear manicures | Pedicures, quick changes, take-home touch-ups |
How to apply the gel
- Prep: push back the cuticle, lightly buff away the shine and clean the nail plate.
- Base: apply a thin gel base coat and cure it under your lamp.
- Color: apply a thin coat of the Gelixir shade, cap the free edge and cure under an LED or UV lamp. Repeat with a second thin coat for full color.
- Top: seal with a gel top coat and cure. With a no-wipe top there is no sticky layer left to clean.
- Finish: a drop of cuticle oil, and the matching lacquer is ready for the toes.
Gelixir makes its own base coat, a base and top in one bottle, and a no-wipe top coat in 8 oz refill bottles; you will find them in the full Gelixir range linked below. Thin coats and a capped edge on every layer do more for wear than extra lamp time.
Removing Gelixir gel
File the shine off the top coat so the remover can reach the color, then soak in acetone. Gelixir rates its gel to soak off in 10 to 15 minutes. Lift the softened gel gently with an orangewood stick and finish with cuticle oil. The lacquer comes off like any regular polish.
Buying Gelixir at DTK
Each shade is a single duo listing, so you can order one number at a time. Because stock per shade is small, order every bottle of a client's regular color you need in one go and note the number on her card. If a number is gone, look in the same color family of a line we keep deeper, such as DND gel and lacquer duos or LAVIS gel and lacquer.
