Yes. LAVIS labels this as a 2-in-1 colour powder for both acrylic and dipping techniques, sold in 1 oz and 1.5 oz jars and made in the USA. For dip, it suits short natural nails with a dip liquid system. For acrylic, mix it with an EMA monomer using a size 10 to 20 brush; acrylic gives a harder result and suits extensions and 3D work. How are the shades numbered?+

The powders follow the LAVIS numbered colour system, which now runs to 282. The range moves through seasonal bands, and the newest numbers add earthy browns and nudes such as 266 Bare, 271 Cafe Au Lait and 279 Pink Nude. Each listing offers the 1 oz and 1.5 oz jar as options, each with its own stock count.

Will the powder match the LAVIS gel of the same number?+

Close, but not identical. LAVIS puts the match between the gel, the lacquer and the powder of one number at around 80 to 85 percent, so swatch the powder next to the gel before you promise a client an exact match. Neon shades tend to match more closely than other colours. Order by number, because the same number is used across LAVIS formats.

Which liquid and tools do I need?+

For acrylic, an EMA liquid monomer, a primer, a dappen dish and a size 10 to 20 acrylic brush. For dip, a complete dip liquid system from one brand, used in its labelled order. Prep the nail by pushing back the cuticle, removing the shine, cleansing and dehydrating before primer or base. Follow the brand's labels for each step.

How do I keep jars in good shape?+

Close each jar between clients and store it sealed, away from heat and direct sunlight. Use a dry, clean brush and do not return used powder to the jar. Keep jars labelled by number so a client's shade can be reordered exactly, and order the 1 oz jar first when you are testing a new shade.
