Two OPI gel systems on one page
OPI makes two soak-off gel polish systems, and this page carries both. GelColor Intelli-Gel is the newer one, launched by OPI in August 2024: a self-correcting formula with its own Intelli-Brush, made without HEMA or TPO and vegan. The original GelColor formula, the system OPI introduced in 2011, is still on many salon shelves, and its bottles are marked "Original Gel Formula" in our titles. Both cure under a lamp, both come in the 0.5 oz salon bottle, and both share the shade names clients already know from OPI Nail Lacquer.
Around the single bottles you will also find gel and lacquer duos, 3-in-1 trios with the matching dip powder, combos that add the base and top coat, starter kits with a lamp, six-colour sets and large salon duo sets. Use the filters next to the grid to narrow by colour, availability, price or product type, or open one of the focused OPI pages linked below.
Intelli-Gel or original GelColor: what changes
Intelli-Gel uses a responsive gel network that thins under brush pressure and settles back when the pressure lifts, so a stroke levels itself instead of streaking or running into the cuticle. The Intelli-Brush has a rounded edge that follows the cuticle line and a channel stem that controls how much gel the brush picks up. OPI rates the system for up to three weeks of wear, with full colour in two thin coats, and each coat cures in 30 seconds under the OPI Star Light LED lamp or in 2 minutes under UV. The formula is free of HEMA and TPO, which matters for clients who have reacted to HEMA before. More than 200 Intelli-Gel shades are listed here as single bottles.
Original GelColor
The original formula is a thin brush-on gel with a glossier finish than regular polish. OPI lists it for up to three weeks of wear and a 30-second cure under an LED lamp per coat. It is not sold as HEMA-free. Salons that built their colour wall on GelColor keep reordering it so client records and shade numbers stay consistent, and a handful of codes, such as T02 Black Onyx and F16 Tickle My France-y, are stocked in both formulas.

How to choose the right OPI gel
- Building a new gel menu or replacing an old one: start with Intelli-Gel. The self-levelling formula forgives uneven strokes, and every shade is HEMA-free.
- A client has reacted to HEMA in the past: use Intelli-Gel with the Intelli-Gel Super Base, and patch test first, because HEMA-free does not rule out a reaction to other acrylates.
- Your colour wall already runs on original GelColor: reorder the same codes in the original formula so the shades on your swatch sticks keep matching.
- Clients want the same colour on hands and toes: pick a gel and lacquer duo, or a 3-in-1 trio if you also offer dip.
- Starting from zero at home or in a new studio: a basic kit puts one colour, Super Base, a top coat and an LED lamp in one order.
The OPI icons worth stocking first
Four shades carry OPI's reputation, and all four are here in Intelli-Gel. S86 Bubble Bath is a sheer warm pink, the "your nails but better" shade and one of the most requested OPI colours of all time. H22 Funny Bunny is a milky soft white for French tips and layering. N25 Big Apple Red is a true blue-based red that suits almost any occasion. W42 Lincoln Park After Dark is a deep purple that reads black in low light and shows its purple in daylight.
Next come the reds and neutrals: L64 Cajun Shrimp (a warm coral red), L87 Malaga Wine (a creamy burgundy for fall and winter), H08 I'm Not Really a Waitress (a deep ruby with pearl shimmer), T65 Put It In Neutral (a creamy pink-beige) and L00 Alpine Snow (a crisp true white for French tips and nail art). Bubble Bath and Funny Bunny are not interchangeable: the first gives a warm pink flush, the second a cool milky white. Layering two coats of Funny Bunny under one coat of Bubble Bath gives the milky glazed look clients keep asking for, and S061 OPI'm a Bubble Bunny puts that mix in a single bottle.
Reds are where skin tone matters most. On fair skin with cool undertones, the blue-based, berry-leaning reds keep the hand looking fresh, so reach for L60 Dutch Tulips, W62 Madam President or W52 Got the Blues for Red. On medium and olive skin, warmer orange-leaning reds such as A70 Red Hot Rio and A16 The Thrill of Brazil bring out the warmth. On deep skin, a rich burgundy like Malaga Wine gives high contrast and depth.
One shade code across gel, lacquer and dip
OPI keeps the same shade code across its formats, and most shades coordinate between GelColor, Nail Lacquer and Powder Perfection dip. H22 Funny Bunny, for example, is listed here as an Intelli-Gel bottle, in a combo with base and top, and inside a 3-in-1 trio with the matching dip and lacquer. That makes it simple to book a gel manicure, a lacquer pedicure and a dip fill in the same colour, and to keep one code on the client card. When a shade appears in both gel formulas, check the title: "Original Gel Formula" marks the classic GelColor bottle, and every other gel single on this page is Intelli-Gel.
How to apply OPI Intelli-Gel
- Shake: Intelli-Gel carries a heavy pigment load, so shake the bottle hard for about 5 seconds before opening it.
- Prep: push back and clean the cuticle, remove the surface shine, then cleanse and dehydrate the nail. OPI's system adds one coat of Bond-Aid pH balancing agent at this step.
- Base: one ultra-thin coat of Super Base, capping the free edge, cured for 30 seconds.
- Colour: a thin coat of Intelli-Gel, capped and cured for 30 seconds, then a second thin coat cured the same way.
- Top: a thin coat of Super Gloss or Super Gloss No Wipe, capped and cured for 30 seconds. After Super Gloss, remove the tacky layer with a cleanser such as N.A.S. 99; the No Wipe version leaves nothing to remove.
- Finish: cuticle oil, and ask the client to avoid heavy impact on the nails for the first day.
Pro tip: when lifting or chipping shows up, check four things first: was the bottle shaken, were the coats thin enough to cure through, was the free edge capped, and is the lamp still strong enough.
Base coats, top coats and the lamp
The Intelli-Gel system pairs Super Base with one of OPI's Super top coats. Super Gloss gives OPI's highest shine and needs a wipe after curing. Super Gloss No Wipe cures without a tacky layer, so it is the easier choice under chrome powder and nail art, and OPI makes it compatible with all of its gel systems. Find them in OPI base and top coats. For curing, OPI recommends its own Star Light 3.0, an LED lamp with a mirrored interior, an infrared sensor and an acetone-resistant body; it is listed with our other UV and LED nail lamps.

Seasonal OPI collections
OPI releases new shade stories through the year, and each one gets its own page here. The New OPIcons marked OPI's 45th anniversary in spring 2026 with modern takes on classics, including OPI'm a Bubble Bunny and Big Apple Energy, in lacquer, Intelli-Gel and dip at the same time. OPI's Most Requested is the fall 2026 drop. For the holidays, the OPI x M&M's holiday collection and the deeper reds and wines in OPI winter gel colors cover the season.
Removal and aftercare
- Removal: both systems are soak-off gels. File away the top shine, soak with acetone wraps or a soak, then lift the softened gel gently with a pusher instead of scraping.
- Between services: finish every set with cuticle oil and suggest the client keeps using it at home.
- Storage: gel reacts to light, so close each OPI bottle right after use and store it out of the lamp's reach and away from daylight.
