Couldn't load pickup availability
DND #889 Satin Barbie is a sheer pink from DND's original gel and lacquer line, the one with more than 1,000 numbered shades. You get the gel polish and its matching lacquer, so a gel manicure and a lacquer pedicure come out the same colour.
In DND's words: A rosy pink, red sheer Please Note: Our Sheer Polishes are buildable, giving you the desired glassy jelly look or working up to a fuller coverage.
What you get
- 1 x DND #889 Satin Barbie gel polish, 0.5 fl oz (15 mL), cured under an LED or UV lamp
- 1 x DND #889 Satin Barbie nail lacquer, 0.5 fl oz (15 mL), air-dries
Why techs stock it
- A system you already run: it works with DND Base #500 and DND Top #600, and with DC or DIVA base and top.
- Up to three weeks of wear: when it goes on over a base gel and under a top gel, cured layer by layer.
- Soak-off gel: the gel removes with acetone, which keeps the natural nail in better shape between sets.
- Natural-nail look: the sheer finish lets some of the nail show through, good for clean-girl sets.

How to apply the gel
- Prep: clean the nail, push back the cuticle, buff off the shine and dehydrate.
- Base: one thin layer of DND Base #500 (or a DC or DIVA base), cured under the lamp.
- Colour: two thin coats of DND #889 Satin Barbie, capping the free edge, curing each coat.
- Top: DND Top #600 No Cleanse, cured, then a drop of cuticle oil.
Who it suits
- Spring sets: pink sits close to most natural nail beds, so regrowth shows slowly.
- Everyday short square sets, paired with a milky white for a soft French.
- Clients who ask for sheer pink by name or by number 889.
Which option to choose
Gel or lacquer? With DND #889 Satin Barbie you do not have to choose. The gel covers the long-wear manicure, the lacquer handles toes and touch-ups, and both match.
Storing the bottles
Keep gel bottles closed and away from the lamp and from windows, since stray UV can thicken the gel in the neck. Wipe the neck before capping so the lid does not stick.
More to pair with Satin Barbie: DND gel polish and nail lacquer, DND pink shades and DND, DC and DIVA base and top gels.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the lacquer match the gel exactly?+
Yes. DND mixes DND #889 Satin Barbie as a gel and a lacquer with the same shade number, so a gel manicure and a lacquer pedicure match. The lacquer air-dries, the gel needs an LED or UV lamp.
How long do I cure each coat?+
Under an LED lamp, cure each thin colour coat 30 to 60 seconds; a UV lamp takes about 2 minutes. Thin coats cure all the way through, thick ones do not.
Which base and top coat should I use?+
DND recommends DND Base #500 and DND Top #600 No Cleanse. DND, DC and DIVA base and top gels are cross-compatible, so any of them will work.
How do I remove it?+
File through the top coat, soak in acetone for about 10 to 15 minutes, then ease the softened gel off with a pusher. The lacquer comes off with regular polish remover.
