DND Gel + Lacquer Duo #981 Chestnut Cassette
Couldn't load pickup availability
DND #981 Chestnut Cassette is a cool light brown from DND's original gel and lacquer line, the one with more than 1,000 numbered shades. You get the gel polish and its matching lacquer, so a gel manicure and a lacquer pedicure come out the same colour.
In DND's words: Believe it or nut, you can kick off a great nail day by pressing play on a pastel medium-toned brown shade.
What you get
- 1 x DND #981 Chestnut Cassette gel polish, 0.5 fl oz (15 mL), cured under an LED or UV lamp
- 1 x DND #981 Chestnut Cassette nail lacquer, 0.5 fl oz (15 mL), air-dries
Why techs stock it
- A system you already run: it works with DND Base #500 and DND Top #600, and with DC or DIVA base and top.
- Up to three weeks of wear: when it goes on over a base gel and under a top gel, cured layer by layer.
- Soak-off gel: the gel removes with acetone, which keeps the natural nail in better shape between sets.
- Clean cream finish: no shimmer or glitter, so it reads the same under salon light and daylight.

- Coffin and almond shapes, paired with a nude base for an ombre fade.

Which option to choose
Gel or lacquer? With DND #981 Chestnut Cassette you do not have to choose. The gel covers the long-wear manicure, the lacquer handles toes and touch-ups, and both match.
Storing the bottles
Keep gel bottles closed and away from the lamp and from windows, since stray UV can thicken the gel in the neck. Wipe the neck before capping so the lid does not stick.
More to pair with Chestnut Cassette: DND gel polish and nail lacquer, DND brown shades and DND, DC and DIVA base and top gels.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the lacquer match the gel exactly?+
Yes. DND mixes DND #981 Chestnut Cassette as a gel and a lacquer with the same shade number, so a gel manicure and a lacquer pedicure match. The lacquer air-dries, the gel needs an LED or UV lamp.
What colour is Chestnut Cassette?+
DND #981 Chestnut Cassette is a cool light brown. Screens show colour differently, so check a swatch stick against the client's skin before the full set.
How long do I cure each coat?+
Under an LED lamp, cure each thin colour coat 30 to 60 seconds; a UV lamp takes about 2 minutes. Thin coats cure all the way through, thick ones do not.
Which base and top coat should I use?+
DND recommends DND Base #500 and DND Top #600 No Cleanse. DND, DC and DIVA base and top gels are cross-compatible, so any of them will work.
